I'm a freelance developer myself. Few months ago I've posted my company's info in a website designed to match developers to potential customers. Most (if not all) of my "potential customers" expect their totally ambiguous system to be built within 3 months using a budget of hotel vacation for two... At some point I got an email from the website's system informing me of an interesting offer to "build a module that automatically breaks any CAPTCHas and can than perform various operations on the web automatically"... Aside from the dubious legality of such a bid and the sky-high complexity of such a system, I was amazed to see that he got ~10 offers from developers. The lowest bid was 60$ ... I was shocked - how on earth did he receive such an offer!, so I left him a message that whenever he finds someone that actually build his system for 60$ he should send his phone number to me so I can employ this guy myself... After a few days I got a call from him and he told me that all of the offers are actually from people searching for a job and sending their CVs in the hope of finding one ... he did not get even a single real offer and he did not understand why :-) Liron So True!
